The interdisciplinary, undergraduate minor in Leadership Studies provides students with knowledge of leadership theories, principles, and concepts to better prepare them for success in future professional roles. Courses for the minor are offered through five colleges: College of Arts and Sciences, College of Education and Human Ecology, Fisher College of Business, College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, and John Glenn College of Public Affairs. The minor is structured to acquire knowledge and skills related to personal leadership, team and organizational leadership, community leadership, and ethics and diversity. To complete the minor, students will also work with a group/team/organization/community to address a leadership-related need or issue through a self-directed capstone project.

The Leadership Studies minor has helped me gain awareness of myself and others, making the transition into my profession easier. You will always be surrounded by people who are different. Embrace those differences and use the diversity as an advantage

Melissa Rindfleisch, Strategic Communications

A minor in Leadership Studies has made me a more confident person! I am learning the skills I need to lead in and out of the classroom.

Katie Jackson, Business Administration-Finance

Pursuing the leadership studies minor has provided me the opportunity for soft skill development, which is necessary as a future healthcare professional that will work closely with patients. As a leadership studies minor student, I have had the opportunity to meet and learn from passionate student leaders across the university that I otherwise may have not met within my major course of study.

Riley Evans, Pharmaceutical Sciences

The Leadership Studies minor allowed me to meet people outside of my major who were all interested in making the world a better place. Now as a graduate student in Higher Education and Student Affairs, I've learned that this minor provided me a great foundation to work with students as a career!

Jessica Hoopengardner, Microbiology

The Leadership Studies minor not only prepared for my extracurricular involvements on campus but also my internships and professional experiences. The coursework allowed me to excel; independent of any project, group, or circumstance that the past four years have thrown at me.

Robert Engoglia, Finance

The Leadership studies minor allowed me to fully develop my passion of developing students into leaders themselves. It opened my eyes to so many different types of leadership, and to develop great mentors who helped me down this path.

Matt Studenmund, STEM Math Education

The leadership studies minor at Ohio State allowed me to grow as a leader and find my passion for leadership development. It also helped me prepare for my new role as a Graduate Assistant for the Career and Leadership Development Center at Ohio University by not only teaching me about leadership theories and philosophies but allowing me to implement those during my time in class.
